What's the suggested software for downloading existing frequencies and reprogramming updated frequencies into the PRO-2096 and PRO-96? I'm currently listening to analog and P25 frequencies in the radios in northern New England. Thanks in advance.

I'm everywhere Focker!
I personally would shy away from anything StarrSoft as the author has been AWOL from RR for years now. Some members have reported issues receiving what they paid for.

A better choice may be Butel as the author is active on the forums.

I second Butel ARC96 software. Which agencies do you want to monitor? The PRO-96 and PRO-2096 can decode P25 Phase 1 only and cannot trunk track 700 MHz frequencies.

I have been a user of win96 from Starrsoft ever since I purchased (new) my Pro96.

Don't know about any bad experiences, as mentioned above, but the site is still active.

Also, I don't see how you can go wrong trying the free " 30 day trial." It is available for downloading at:

PRO-96 Software - Win96 - Data Management Software for the RadioShack PRO-96 and PRO-2096 Digital Trunking Scanners

Since there is no way to buy Win96 I use a little program called TrialReset to reset the trial. Win96 uses Armadillo. I have a dedicated old 32 bit Win 7 laptop for radio programming so I'm not too worried about using such apps on it. Since you only need to reset Armadillo you can delete all the extra plugins TrialReset comes with that trigger for attacking other security types that trigger AV software. The bare program with no plug ins is all you need and the bare program does not appear to trigger AV software.
