I tried searching the archives about this, and came up empty-handed. Is there any scanner recording software (no scanner control necessary) that will automatically end a recording at midnight each night and then start recording onto a new file for the new day? I either overlooked or couldn't find software that has this capability. All that I saw were programs that will record one large file until you tell it to stop. I want to be able to leave it fully unattended.

Well, to begin with, it will have to be an eclectic variety of scanners consisting of RadioShack and Bearcat. I don't need scanner control. It will eventually all be Bearcats but, unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on upgrading equipment.

I don't know if this is acceptable, but Xcorder will start a new file each hour.

I am looking for something similar. I want to start a WAV recording at a specified time, or have it record from a start time to an end time (unattended).

Thanks, I think Xcorder will work for my needs. I'll have to play with it for a bit tonight.

I think Scanner Recorder can do that.

ScanControl will do this as well. Each hour it will create a new folder by time, so your layout looks something like this:

\audio_files
\012009
\0000
\0100
\0200.. etc

However, it depends on what scanner you use and whether it is compatible with ScanControl.

See the link for more information.
