I tried starting Sentinel so I could get the latest firmware for the SDS100. It wouldn't start indicating to me of some sort of .NET Framework 2.0 issue. I went to the "Turn Windows features on or off" and the .NET Framework 3.5/2.0 option wasn't showing like in this screenshot.

After rolling back updates, the .NET Framework 3.5/2.0 option still was missing and Sentinel still wasn't starting. To make a long story short, I found this link
See this section

[.NET Framework 3.5]

  • Starting with Build 27965, .NET Framework 3.5 is no longer a Windows Feature on Demand optional component. We encourage customers relying on the legacy framework to move to modern versions of .NET. Customers running business-critical applications that still depend on .NET Framework 3.5 can access a .NET Framework 3.5 standalone installer located here: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2337635.

After I downloaded and installed https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2337635 Sentinel started to work again! The "Turn Windows features on or off" dialog still doesn't show the .NET Framework 3.5/2.0 option so I take it that is the new norm.

I had this problem a while back and all I did was reboot and everything worked as expected and .NET 3.5 now appears.

Look under Legacy Components?
It's not there.

I rebooted many times when adding and removing updates. Was that with build 27965 ? That just came out earlier this month.

@ProScan

Watching this thread and forwarded to UJE as I had same issues with the Canary channel updates. I'm positive I had to clean install non insider Win 11 Pro and forgotten to deactivate my ProScan, needing you to reset me. :)

Hopefully there will be a (long overdue) update of the Sentinel Software.

Key issues are handled via email only. It's usually done within an hour or two when received initially via email.

@ProScan thank you very much for this. I have been using Canary builds for ages now and I had another program, Virtual Radar quit on me with .Net errors. There was a newer build of it that resolved the .Net issue. The other day I updated to the latest canary build 28000 and Sentinel tossed the same .Net error.
