• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Here are some text files that are interesting and probably good for a biginner getting into the hobby.

It not outdated either because one of the files tells you not to buy a scanner that you have to switch crystals to get different frequencies.

mmm...the last crystal controlled scanner I bought was over 20 years ago...plenty of scope for the files to be significantly out of date if only a few years old!

I bought a Bearcat Thin Scan 6 channel scanner with my first money as a teenager. That was one sweet system.

The links are a pretty good compilation of some aged files. I had hard copies of some of that stuff 15 years ago. It is still interesting reading - takes me back to my old 10 channel scanner days.

I remember some of this stuff from my BBS days 12 years ago. Was some great info back then but it's aged.... definately, don't consider any frequency resource to be accurate on there.

Great catch though!
