SOME PROBLEMS I AM HAVING

First of all..........new to pro-95, new to RR.Com

(1) I have noticed that while scanning in trunked mode, sometime the talkgroup will display, along with the voice channel, but NO SOUND.
what's this about? Because if the talkgroup is displaying, then this means my scanner is hitting the control channel......anyone else having this problem?????

(2) I have noticed that if i only have one channel in a bank unlocked, and other banks with all channels programmed and unlocked, then the scanner seems to skip over the bank, that has only one channel.
i.e. "bank 1"-O.C.P.D. (All divisions prog., and unlocked), "bank 5"- security bank, all channels prog., only one channel unlocked.

(3) THERE IS BLEEDING ON SOME CHANNELS. i.e. Bethany Fire (i think) 460.600 is bleeding over to some of my Oklahoma County Freq's.

(4) Search mode - the scanner stops at an unspecified freq., i.e.
if searching and stopped at 453.7789, when actual freq., is 453.7875, etc.

(5) it eats your batteries up in no time flat, i have not had a handheld before in my life that ate up my batteries this quick!!!!

(6) EDACS Trunking appears to be not working correctly.

If this is an EDACS system, you might not have properly programmed the scanner. The channels need to be entered in LCN order, starting with memory x01 (not x00).

If you think it isn't being scanned because the trunk indicator doesn't blink, it is likely because it takes a small fraction of a second to check that 1-channel bank. The scanner doesn't have enough time to update the display...

(4) Search mode - the scanner stops at an unspecified freq., i.e.
if searching and stopped at 453.7789, when actual freq., is 453.7875, etc.

In search mode, it isn't unusual for the scanner to stop one step below/above the actual frequency. There is a little bit of the signal on those adjascent steps.

(6) EDACS Trunking appears to be not working correctly.

If this is an EDACS system, you might not have properly programmed the scanner. The channels need to be entered in LCN order, starting with memory x01 (not x00).

That's assuming there is an LCN #1. The LCN MUST be programmed in the corresponding channel in the scanner (LCN 3 in chaqnnel 3, LCN 7 in channel 7, Etc.). You should never see an LCN #0 which I'm sure is why Paul made the statement he made.

Something is wrong. Are you using an alkaline battery or rechargable NiMH's?

Is the backlight for the screen always on?

My pro-95 sipps juice from the batteries that I put in. In fact, after my digital camera drains its AA's, there is enough juice left in them to power my 95 for a long time ...

My Pro-95 is not what I would call quick to use batteries either, compared to other units I have. If yours is discharging way too fast, either the backlight is on too much, or something else is wrong.

Ditto what is said above reference the EDACS programming, if it isn't exactly right with the LCN, it is not going to work right.

Looks like you're in the OKC area, I believe some Win 95 files have been posted for that area, might look at them for help with the EDACS programming. Oh, if you're not familiar with the Win 95 files, it's a program for programming the Pro-95 available at http://www.starrsoft.com
