Try connecting to http://192.168.1.4:1175/ in Windows media player. It's just MCSO right now but I want to make sure it's working. For some reason Windows media player doesn't let you connect in a pocket PC. It's ten now I'll leave it up till the batteries go dead.

192.168.x.x are internal only IP addresses and will only be addressable in your own internal network (behind your own router), not through the internet. For this to be available, you'll need to open a port (1175 from your sample) in your router and route that to the necessary PC (192.168.1.4 in your sample). You'll then need to discover the internet accessable IP address for your router (WAN port, most likely) and have users reach you through that address.

That's what I figured, finally got the phone hooked up and yeah it was a network error, I kinda figured that was what was happening. Okay more tinkering till I figure it out, so Windows media encoder isn't a good one to do streaming with?

I wish someone would just come out with something that made streaming as easy as just DL a program hook a scanner to comp and there you go...I guess this really doesn't belong in the AZ forum, so move if necessary.

I definitely need some help on setting up a stream...if anyone has some advice I'd take it.

Hi Aaron,

If you are able to listen to your stream on another computer on your network using the address http://192.168.1.4:1175/, then you are half way there.

You will then need to set up port forwarding in your router for port 1175 to IP address 192.168.1.4. Most routers will not let you port forward to a DHCP address, so 192.168.1.4 (or a different 192.168.1.x address) will likely need to be hardcoded on your streaming machine if it is not already.

If you can send me the model of your router, then I can help with setting up port forwarding.

After that is done, then you will need know external IP address that other will use to connect to your stream. This can be found by going to this link:

Find IP Address: What is My IP Address? IP Address Lookup & IP Locator

I have Cox in Phoenix and my external IP address is 68.104.xxx.xxx, so the external link for this stream will be http://68.104.xxx.xxx:1175/.

After you have the port forwarding done, and have identified your external IP address, then you should be set.

Good Luck.

One thing that I would add is that if you have a static IP address with your provider the address to your stream will never change. In my situation I have a Dynamic External IP address, assigned by my provider. Every two weeks or so it will change. I overcome this by using no-ip.org. That app/service redirects traffic to your modem/router even if your provider changes it. A little app runs on your computer and checks your IP on a certain schedule and updates as neccessary.

Not sure if it is something I am doing or not but it tries to start for about one second and then says END OF PLAY.

Cool, well now if I can just get my phone to work. Windows media player keeps telling me it's an invalid file type...I know it's not but this is a beta version of windows 6.5 so there might be something wrong there.

Getting the same message using Windows Mobile 6.1. Ok on my desktop PC.
