• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Someone, please, provide some help to me :(

Hello, my scanning brothers :) I am from Europe (Lithuania). I have purchased new scanner Uniden BC250D and i have some troubles using an trunktracker function. I want to monitoring our police trunking system, but i don`t know a type of this trunking system (maybe Motorola type II, possible, handheld radios used by our police is MTS2000 or MTS1000). I have monitored some frequencies, on which our police talking theirs conversation. Frequencies is:

1. 161.400 Mhz FM
2. 161.550 Mhz FM
3. 161.700 Mhz FM
4. 161.900 Mhz FM
5. 155.255 Mhz FM
6. 155.275 Mhz FM
7. 155.400 Mhz FM
8. 155.575 Mhz FM

I have some questions:
how to program trunk in this scanner (i know talkgroups id) - which is base frequency, step, offset channel etc... ? :(

please, someone, if possible, help me... :) i am a novice in monitoring trunked systems...

First thing I notice is program is set up for conventional scanning useing PL tones. To my knowledge no trunking system uses PL tones. Mode is set for FM. If its a Motorola system it would need to be set to MOT. Using the "setup" and "trunk" buttons at the top would let you set data for trunking. I dont know if any of this helps but good luck. Larry

In the ARC250 program, in the third column under Trunk, click in the first Off, this will give you a pulldown which you should select to On. Do this in each of the Off's or you may Right click and highlight the rest of those fields under Trunk, then select Fill Down. This will set each to On.

I think you understand how to set the system under the Trunk pulldown at the top. He does need to figure what the base and offset is. And of course, is it a trunking system.

Have you run Trunker to gather data, or have you heard a Control Channel noise on any of the frequencies? If you have heard CC noise, then Motorola VHF trunking information may be found in RadioReference Home (click link above). On the left of that page you will find under >Online Content >Trunking Information>Determining Motorola VHF/UHF Channel Assignments. The info is lengthy but may help solve the unknown Base and Offset info you need.

Correct, but slicers are not difficult to build. How to build can be found on the link under Trunking at the RadioReference Home, or use this link.

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=8
The two level should be more then adequate.

Or you may be able to purchase a slicer at a reasonable price. Try this link.
http://www.dataslicers.com/

This tool will be very resourceful in your efforts to map your system.

By the way, your use and structure of our language is astonishing, and makes me embarrassed , that I can't speak one word of yours.

Finally, I'm sorry we are unable to give you much help.

Vladlenas:

In addition to the link fmon gave you for dataslicers.com you could take a look at this site which may be a little easier to deal with for EU countries. :)
