Somerset County 470 dispatch

anyone else noticed a compete change (for the worse) in receiving Somerset Counties UHF dispatch channel, for reference i’m in the NW corner of middlesex county since i believe there are multiple antenna sites. From what i’ve heard in the past, the one closest to me (i believe greenbrook on rock ave) has had issues.

Here is my sheet on what is where. You should find this useful. So for Middlesex, no site for paging in Greenbrook. Watchung, Miller Lane, Harrison Towers, and Somerville for you.

Since you posted here, I do not believe the June 1 changeover occurred. Any idea what happened?

Is this on the Fire/EMS Fleet Call - TG 801? Or is the TRS alerting (paging) on another TG?

PS Hillsborough is missing from this - I know that Hillsborough BLS is RWJ, so it would be on the NJICS system, but fire?

Yes. The inter-local was to go in effect June 1. HQ seems to still be on the job.

we were told after the agreement was signed april 1 that the changeover probably wouldn’t happen till the new year, there are some other issues being hashed out that can’t be discussed that might void the agreement if they can’t be worked out

The performance has degraded over the years. At one point, paging went far and wide, still intelligible on the brink of NJ. It seems every few years is the increment of lossy behavior.

so after some testing, disconnecting the aerial antenna on the roof and hooking up a standard antenna on the back of the scanner it was the wire running to the antenna on the roof causing my issues, basic cheap scanner antenna pulling it in along with much more crystal clear 🤦‍♂️
