System Layout

So a quick look it appears that the move to 700MHZ as mentioned in numerous Somerset County
threads is underway:

P25 LSM, 2 Slot TDMA will be in the system.

A 6 Site East System and a 4 Site West System.

Interesting to note that B'ville gets one of each.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

Partially correct.

It's a 10 site, 6 frequency fully simulcast system; all frequencies on both license applications are identical for all sites. There are no "East" and "West" systems/zones.

You are correct about it being a Phase II system, and it has to be LSM (CQPSK) because it's simulcast.

I've created the system in the DB. Probably a bit premature, but who can really say how quickly they'll start building out the 700 system alongside the UHF system (absent any official word). It doesn't hurt for people to be aware of the frequencies so they can keep an ear on them. I added it as Site 001-004 because I have a hunch they're going to add it right alongside the current systems, which already occupy Sites 001 and 002 for the Motorola system, and site 001-003 for the UHF P25 system. It might even share the same SysID/WACN as the UHF P25 system when all is said and done, time will tell.

Might be too early to say, but since some of Somerset County is on the PSIC system, could they be going the Union County route and have this ultimately be part of that system?

I don't believe so, given the fact that they already have their own P25 system in place on UHF. They could just add six 700 MHz GTR repeaters at each site to the current system and have a mixed-frequency system. A bit unusual maybe, but not unheard of.

Has anyone seen any activity on this system at all? The times I've scanned these frequencies have yielded nothing at all.

It seems to me like Somerset well just eventually join the PSIC network rather than implement its own 700; after all, public works is already up on it.

Anybody have any non-speculative info on 700MHz and Somerset??

Update

Here is a rough update......

Microwave rollout to relplace current T1 lines supporting UHF 3600/9600 and 700MHZ systems are going slowly do do significant path issues.

700 System has been tested and shipped from the factory. No pending install dates yet.

State PSIC link I do not think that wil be (sources).
Morris, perhaps.

Sites still need to be built in Bernardsville.

Going to be a while yet.

Getting information off the 700 system finally!

Taken from 774.40625, matches what would be expected based on the current systems:
SID-0457, SUB-01, SIT-104, WACN-BEE00

I've merged the 700 and UHF systems together under a single system:

Somerset County (P25) Trunking System

I don't think we'll have any issues with it like this, but we'll keep an eye on it and if necessary, I can easily revive the separate systems.

I was about to suggest the same. I'm sure once talk groups start affiliating, they will be identical.

I agree for the most part. Key up on TG 203, TDMA, which corresponds well to the UHF P25. All radio ID's that have affiliated have been in the 1800000 series.

Pro96Com now lists this site as connected, no longer site trunking. Lot more activity noted today, including of TGIDs that correspond to those also on the UHF site. Anyone know if it's truly connected? (i.e. Voice Traffic being simulcasted on both sites? Specifically TGID 203) I know a county console had keyed up and talked for a brief period of time with an identifier of 10001.
