I have the SDS100 and I am having no luck picking up the Somerset Sheriff and Local PD EDACS system. I am hearing everything else but for some reason just not having any luck with the new system. I have the Provoice upgrade . Is there another upgrade I might need .

The EDACS system (while still on the air) has no users as they have all migrated to the P25 system. All law enforcement talkgroups on the P25 system are encrypted.

Right. The only police department in Somerset County that is not encrypted is the state police (not sure if NRP has a TG on the new system as they do in some counties.) As was mentioned above, the county just recently migrated to a new P25P2 system with new frequencies and TGs. The old EDACS system is no longer primary for public safety users, and is likely to be decommissioned at some point. Your Provoice modulation upgrade is only applicable to some EDACS systems, and unfortunately both are now obsolete. There is no upgrade path for any scanner to be able to decode encrypted channels..

very disappointing. no need for a county like ours to be so clandestine.
