Hello Everyone,

I am new to the trunked scanner market and I have just purchased the Uniden BCT15 for monitoring New Jersey State Police and Local Somerset County PD (Franklin Township). I went to RR and looked in the database for Somerset County and I noticed that Somerset County is also using a Trunked System. I also downloaded a program for the BCT15 named ScanControl ver 6.1 to assist me in loading the frequency into the scanner. I'm a little confused when trying to set up this program to load up my scanner. The program asks me what the system type is. I learned from RR that the system type is MOT2 but then the program asked me the site type and I'm not sure what to put. Should I put the site type as T2-800S or should I use UHF because the frequencies are in the 400 mhz range. The other question I have is; does anyone know what site 1 Simulcast means? It has several frequencies assigned to it but do I need to enter these frequencies to listen to Franklin Township PD? Any assistance would be great!!!

Thanks,
James

Somerset County is analog and apoc 25 digital, Franklin Twp PD is apco 25 digital and the police are encrypted you won't be able to monitor them with the bct15 or any scanner made at this time, from the info I see in the database.

robocop80,

I'm thinking about upgrading to a newer scanner, but, I torn, don't know if I want the uniden bcd996t, gre prs600 or wait to see if uniden comes out with a new unit with more features, digital is the way to go. If your local town does encrypt though it stinks, my town Toms River encrypts, but others don't, I still enjoy listening to them. Maybe you can return it, (more money) and go digital, or enjoy what you can receive now. It's a neat hobby!!

Yes, digital signals, but where noted in the mode when it says E for encryped you won't receive it, no scanner will receive those signals, it's not legal. A analog, D digital, and E encrypted. You'll see it when looking in the rr database in Somerset County, look at Franklin Twp mode - E.
