Heard a Canadian station last night on 530, a frequency usually dominated by the religious broadcaster from Turks & Caicos, or sometimes a Cuban station. The database has a 1000d/250n station CIAO in Brampton listed, and they were playing instrumentals and id'ed as 88.5 "The Jewel". A quick check of the website audio stream confirmed this, but they didn't mention an AM simulcast. The database listings seemed to indicate that 88.5 recently changed format.

I'm wondering if they increased power or the T&C station was off because they sure were strong for 250watts.

Hi John. I guess the Carribbean would be better DX for you huh? That Turks & Caicos station usually blows away Havana on 530, I think they run huge power - lots more than any US stations are allowed. Before they came on I used to enjoy the music from Cuba, since that was such a clear channel it was always strong here. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on 530 some more and see what's on.

Often CIAO and Turks run equal here ( close in vs high power I guess). I don't think I've heard Cuba that well, but I haven't spent too much time listening down there lately either. During the daytime, I can hear _weak_ traffic information stations from Chicago and lower Michigan.
