Hey there. It was like pulling teeth trying to convince my wife that we 'Needed' a scanner in HER car. This was the compromise: Pro2046 mobile mounted in the under-seat storage, a remote speaker under the dash, a mini multi-band 'hershy's kiss' style mag mount dead-centered in the center of the roof and a small, lighted switch on the top left corner of the glove compartment. That switch is the power for the scanner... if the baby is sleeping or the wife is on the cell phone, she can pop open the glove compartment and flick off the scanner.

The only change I'd make?
I'd like to replace the on/off switch with a rotary dial which would control the volume to the remote speaker so I can turn it up or down (including "0") as we need to.

Sincerely
Hastingsmedic

I put in a remote volume and on/off control in my girlfriends car. I just removed the stock vol/power switch from the scanner, used a cat-5 cable to the switch and mounted it. I only needed power and volume, cause I dont need to see the frequincy its on or program it, so it comes in handy and its out of the way. I do have other radios in the car, Ham and CB, but I need to have those accesable to change channels and see the displays, but at least I dont have one more thing cluttering the dash area.
