Hi everyone..I'm sort of new. Been a member here for awhile but haven't posted much. I'm getting back into scanning. I just ordered a Uniden Bearcat 125at scanner. I have an old bearcat 300 channel scanner that covers the 800-956 range...just can't remember where i put it...lol. I also have a kaito shortwave receiver. I live in randolph county, al. I figure here i live the 125at should work. If anyone has any tips they would like to share it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the warm welcome. My mistake on my old scanner it is a bc220 200 channel uniden. I jus need to find he charging cord for it. I received my bc 125 a couple of days ago. With the help of the uniden software and the databases here i programed the frequencies for my area. So far so good...although i seem to get interference when i use it in my car. I have an old aftermarket anntenna i am using which helps reception a bit at the house. I could pick up faint transmissions from a twon 30 miles away from their police department.

the only things i don't care for on the new scanner is that the keypay doesn't light up. That would be helpful in the car at night. and it only has one knob used for multiple functions. such as squelch and volume. over time it will get easier i think but kind of a pain at the moment.

I think overall it seems to be an excellent scanner for what i will use it for and the price i paid. I bought it new for 125 including shipping.
