Sort of vacant Capacity Plus System?

Howdy,

So I monitor the CATA Bus communications in Centre County, PA, and they have both an FM channel and a Capacity Plus system. RR doesn't have any talkgroups for that system, but I can still receive the Control channel with my SDR. That being said, I hear plenty of transmissions from the FM frequency. I cannot tell if it is patched through like the county fire dispatch or if the system is dormant but still transmitting a control channel. Any ideas?

It's possible but I think the buses have their own CAD system with GPS. All the transmissions I hear have MDC-1200 so I figured that that was their primary channel since MDC usually isn't on trunking systems.

There's a multi state commercial DMR system where I'm at and I haven't picked up any traffic other than the control.

I'm far away from Centre County, but maybe I could try monitoring the CATA system you are and maybe find something. It might reach here.

Capacity Plus systems do not have a dedicated control channel, they have 'rest' channels.

Is it the ICORRS you were monitoring? I had the same issue. I can't program my XPR for a non-affiliate scan on a Connect Plus as far as I know and my SDR is busted.

ICORRS is not DMR. That system has nothing to do with XPR radios.

I don't know if there are system wide users on the MADRN, but there's no local or system wide traffic on it here in the Lackawanna-Wyoming valley areas.

CATA seems to be beyond my range.
I may have to wait for certain conditions or maybe try a yagi.

Let me know if you have any luck. I'll keep trying the SDR and maybe do some more research on my end.
