Recently I took my 250d scanner on vacation in the Carolinas with me. In general on both trunking and conventional scanning modes when the signal strength is low I recieved poor sound on the scanners due to the weak signal strength. In conclusion I would have to say that per the owners manual that location could afffect the scanners sound quality. When I pulled in a strong signal on the meter I had great sound, I noticed this on the Hoosier state trunked system. The majority of the trunking was analog systems and some conventional stuff.
