I'm in up in TR and not in the city. I've seen several troopers up here and one on Highway 11 last week. They use the PAL800 system, do traffic control, and do issue tickets.

Most would agree that SC has far too few troopers on the road these days. It's partially why SC has one of the highest rates of traffic fatalities in the nation. The number of troopers now is way down compared to its high number in the late 2010s. They are there, and they are out in force this weekend. I heard more traffic stops while monitoring yesterday than I have heard in a really long time. Troopers are generally working crashes instead of enforcing traffic laws.

After the report on the numbers of people shot after traffic stops came out, it seemed like the police backed off of their speed enforcement. TR used to work the curve near KFC on a regular basis. I haven't seen them out for a while. They seem to have enough officers to do it.

With all the defunding nonsense, bad PR and all, what young person wants to go into law enforcement. Go get a two year degree, start working for a department only to have it wasted in a second due to someone else doing something stupid.

Just down McElhany anytime of day, they are thick there. Coming from Dacusville each day I hit the brakes at the YMCA.

HP is really slow responding to accidents, and it may be the lack of troopers, as Brian said. Not unusual for firemen in Greenville to hold an accident scene for an hour waiting for a trooper. Urbanized counties like Greenville and Spartanburg should be responsible for handling accident reports and traffic enforcement and keep the Highway Patrol on the highways.

Groan! I feel my taxes going up big time. Three shifts is what 20 on first, 12 on second, and 8 on nights for a total of 40. That's another 3 million for the kitty.

Well police in sc always hire way above because police sherffic and other respond to other stuff basically besides wrecks dwi and eta troopers im sure they hire above even if sc has low rate but that can change and I hear there over trying hire troopers now because some retire and stuff were.triopere just do carting things can arrest.police and cities hire more then what they do tho there hire up being trooper.butnur right then people stopped working or wanting to and police hate Dell it seems lot people are coming. Back in field but its not just dust u got fill u got fill district's all over Greenville Columbia and Charleston arr big areas so I'm sure they need lot.troopers for them areas

Listen to your scanner any weekend morning they are enforcing traffic something fierce. weekdays are filled with the morning commute wrecks. Domestic situations are up to the county and city, but you will hear HP on major incidents. They are backup for those issues. And please use spell check and put your periods at the end of a sentence, not in the middle. It would make your rant easier to understand.
