ENGLEWOOD – What sounds like the set-up for a joke was anything but a laughing matter on Friday, after two nuns, two women and sheriff's deputy were injured in a car crash.

The Colorado State Patrol says the two nuns, two women and the sheriff's deputy were injured after a car driven by one of the nuns crashed into an unmarked Arapahoe County Sheriff's car.

Troopers say the incident occurred at the corner of South Potomac and South Chambers Road just before 6 p.m.

Authorities say a white 2003 Hyundai driven by 46-year-old Eun Jeong, a Korean Catholic nun from St. Lawrence Korean Catholic Church in Aurora, was traveling north on South Potomac Street, entered a T-intersection at South Chambers Road and collided with a blue 2004 Chevrolet Impala.

The Impala was an unmarked Arapahoe County Sheriff's car driven by 31-year-old Deputy Brian Knudsen.

Jeong and her three passengers, 50-year-old Korean nun Keum Baek, 67-year-old woman Moon Yum and 62-year-old woman Chun Son were all taken to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Knudsen suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Swedish Medical Center.

Troopers say Knudsen, Jeong and Baek were wearing seatbelts, but the other two were not.

State Patrol says alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have contributed to the crash.

Troopers say charges in the crash are pending.
