Does anyone have any more information on this? Are they joining the county P25 system, or building out their own? The article mentions a new tower site and "communications technology"

DUH.... reading comprehension skills failed me. Much appreciated.. I guess they’re putting up towers for the county system out there then!

LOL, Took me a minute to sift through it myself. Yeah, appears that way. I'm kinda glad theyre doing that, even though my opinion aint worth jack. Makes for a far more interoperable capable system

I was reading East Hamptons is already linked to Suffolk’s via ISSI with South Hampton Towns agencies jumping on they’re definitely approaching Good interoperability!

East Hamp is linked with Suffolk County

SHT PD uses their own VHF system. SHV PD uses a talk group on the County system, but still has their own VHF if needed

With these multi-band portables, depts can operate on their own systems and also have the county 700/800 loaded into them.

I love articles like this. So misleading. All that needs to be done it build out the county 800 system to truly cover the entire county, Melville to Montauk. It's getting and has gotten better, but the east end still suffers.

Then, PD's can use multi-band portables and mobiles to operate on the County system as well as their own systems, like Riverhead EMS is currently doing. Channel 1 in their portables is Riverhead 2 (County system). Channel 2 is their own UHF freq. Depts can use the county system as primary use, backup etc. or just to have for interop.
