I am currently searching for Deming and Lordsburg New Mexico Border Patrol Frequencies. Before their P25 upgrade they used 165.900, 168.875, 163.675. I have searched 160.000-174.000 with no luck. Complete silence. I can hear Santa Teresa, Las Cruces, Fabens TX, El Paso TX, and Ysleta Border Patrol perfect. The Bootheel of NM is silent? Are they in a different band. Any help is greatly appreciated and I will be more than happy to share the digital frequencies I have found. Thanks in advance.

What are the current Freqs/Tones you are getting ??

I would venture they are all in the VHF spectrum vs putting them on UHF

The Border Patrol and other CBP agencies are upgrading their radio system to P25 and moving their repeater outputs up to 168 - 174 MHz region. The El Paso Sector has moved to these new frequencies in the last year or so. I just did an article in The Spectrum Monitor magazine about the changes in the El Paso area. Here's what I was able to confirm for them:

171.3875 NA03 CBP New P25 Wide Area
171.6625 N135
171.6625 NA01 CBP New P25 Wide Area
172.2625 NA01 CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.0500 NA25 CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.5750 NA26 CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.5750 NA33 CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.6000
173.7000 NA1A CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.7125 NA16 CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.7625 NA26 CBP New P25 Wide Area
173.8125 NA26 CBP New P25 Wide Area

Keep searching and you will find them. Good luck!

Here in Dona Ana County, I have noticed a large majority of their transmissions are encrypted, which sucks. On occasion it will come in the clear or one side of the conversation the encrypted. You have to be on the right frequency at the right time and some times its very quiet. Good Luck with it.

Otero is pretty much silent as it isn't actually on border. They do talk but it's seldom. Majority is clear mostly analog still. Some enc use but not much. I do know that they use a few uhf freqs but I don't know them. I'll post what they use in otero it isn't much like 2 freqs the rest closer to dona ana and El paso they utilize those freqs. The checkpoints mostly talk in direct simplex mode to another. Typically I found them to be in clear. I did notice a friend who is in border patrol his radio had enc garble and I asked why can't he hear. He said some your routine patrol or check point agents don't have access to certain convo such as bortacs or special operations in area. He said it can be annoying at times.

Out of curiosity I plugged in those freqs with the one I had and on my old xts I'm getting digital activity in otero. On one channel I haven't found the nac or which one it is but will be studying it more. What ever it is its all in clear no enc.

The other analog that was used in otero was 163.700 dpl 223. The 172.2625 was what I was hearing in digital. Will play with nac in bit see if it matches. Right now just running csq and dig csq on it all.

First the range you should be searching is the 162-174MHz range. That is the fed VHF band. And Federal Goverenment does not talk that much anyway like the local police. Our Customs in Peoria,IL still uses 165.2375 RM in P25. We also have 163.625 RM in P25 in use also. Search that part of the band and I think you will find it.

I asked a friend in BP about it he said they utilize El paso sector primaries and nat sector wide freqs depending on what there doing. They also use there local freqs too. Dona ana eddy otero luna. As for what he wasn't sure. I know he had a xts 5000 but now has a fancy apx dual bander.

I noticed at different time intervals or shifts they seem to switch what channel they use in those El paso ones.
