SouthOps Frequency

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out what frequency is being used for SouthOps on this Broadcastify feed:

Broadcastify Feed 38640 – OSCC

I can hear the SouthOps traffic on the feed, but I’m having trouble determining exactly what frequency it is coming from.

I also saw an older forum post from 2008 that listed some SouthOps frequencies and tried those, but I haven’t had any luck hearing anything on them.

Are those frequencies still active, and are they able to be heard around the Redlands area on a portable? If they have been changed or replaced, does anyone know what the current SouthOps frequency is?

I’m mainly interested in identifying the frequency so I can add it to my scanner and monitor it locally.

As far as I know the North and South Ops nets were taken off of VHF and UHF frequencies about 25 years ago and placed on the California State microwave system. It is like a intercom on that system. I wasn't aware that Broadcastify had a feed on it. I will have to listen and figure out what is on that link.

I listened to one recording of traffic originating from LA Co. Traffic was mainly between LACO, Angeles and South Ops. Sounds similar to what I heard when there was 415.5250 downlink from Santiago Peak back in the 1990's. I'll have to do some more monitoring.

Have you heard any other dispatch centers on it, besides the four southern California National Forests (Los Padres, Angeles, San Bernardino and Cleveland)? The Sierra, Sequoia, Inyo and Stanislaus as well as Yosemite National Park should be heard if this Broadcastify link is the South Ops Net.

When I went to LACO last my SDS200 was picking it up but it was strapped.

I don't think it's coming out of any of the Calfire ECC's. This feed is coming out of la county has be la county fire dispatch? Also I heard air bases all of south ops ares.

So digging into this, looks like LACoFD’s FireSync app setup also has this channel in the live radio feed as SOUTH OPS - OSCC AIRCRAFT INTERCOM, which replaced one of the coming soon channels. My assumption, as mentioned by others above, is it’s the LA-RICS enc RX patch on 1014. They also now stream the VFIRE21 RX patch on Broadcastify as well. Yes, there's been a lot of console audio taps lately to provide "official streams" like this from agencies to Broadcastify, as well as CalFire's new AwareCA "totally amaze-ballz official info app that should be trusted beyond WatchDuty to wake you up at 1am and get you evacuated" app, where they are giving streaming links to the command channels of any wildland fire. I'm shocked this OSCC feed is being made public. While it's not "confidential" info, the verbiage and context is very inside-baseball and everyone on it talks without guard. The last thing they need is some citizen listening and not understanding the context around what they're hearing. CalFire internally has all the region intercoms and console audio feeds available to stream behind credentials, and CRIS has all the region intercoms on it as well, so an APX in a Starbucks in Redding can check into South Ops...

I don't believe it is 'being made public' by the feed provider as much as 'the link has been found and posted'. It's listed as a private feed in Broadcastify, is not exposed to applications like ScannerRadio and doesn't show up in searches. Maybe we should quietly enjoy the fortunate circumstances we have now before things change...
