FCC DA 24-1160
In this Order and Authorization we grant the request of SpaceX for authority to deploy radiofrequency beacons that would operate in VHF spectrum within the 137.00-138.00 MHz (space-to-Earth) and 148.00-150.05 MHz
(Earth-to-space) MHz bands and to operate those beacons on up to 450 of its Gen2 Starlink satellites, as
requested in the second amendment SpaceX filed to its application in December 2022.

I thought those were allocated to the military bands here in the United States.

I figure Elon has an "in" with the government now, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets stuff done by calling Trump.

Elon is not a part of the FCC. He is currently the "Administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency". The only reason he got that part of the band was because 1. we havent seen anything on 148-150 in ages, 2. "In" does not necessarily mean "he has total control". If government entities had total control over its own people where id be, i'd sacrifice my life to protest it.
Besides, even if Mr Musky smells would have some sort of say in FCC rights with his department, it would be kinda pointless anyways, as I dont see money as one man's solution to his own existenal value.

I also would rather not get into the mixed up affairs of radio vs politics, as id rather not worry about opinionating on different world leaders unless if I see unedited camera footage of somebody doing or saying something completely wrong. Its about as complicated as some human's internal bodily structures.

ISS space station having a US Astronaut Ham VHF news info here on downlink 145.800 FM.
Must be talking to a school on East Coast.
There was a contact with a school in Ohio this afternoon at like 1:15 Eastern. I would have listened but my batteries ran out.

Does anyone know the conventional or trunked radios used in McGregor, Texas. Space-X tests jet engines at this location.

No, they are beacons for the application of a number (450) of the starlink satellites.
Probably echo that in the TTC downlinks.
Hey Richard, by any chance would you know the comms frequencies for the booster/stage recovery off the east coast....I see the ship sometimes at the Morehead City Port

Thanks and have a great weekend!
