There will be changes made to the Spartanburg County fire channels. Unknown when the changes will occur, however radios are being reprogrammed now throughout the county.

County fire dispatch will move to the channel two position in all radios and will be used only for paging. The current County Fire Alternate will move to channel one position in all radios and be used for all operations (talking to dispatch, ect.). They are also adding on two more Tac channels, unknown what those frequencies will be.

I've noticed most, if not all new radios purchased are Motorola XPR 6550 portables and Motorola XPR 4550 mobiles.

The new channel lineup will be as follows. Some radios at my station are already set up like this.

Operations - 154.025
Dispatch - 154.310
Tactical 1 - 155.895
Tactical 2 - 154.415
Tactical 3 - ????
Tactical 4 - ????
Talk Around - 154.265

Following those will be private department channels as well as the SCVTAC and VTAC frequencies.

The only change I see is they changed the name Alternate to Operations. Scannist usually program the Dispatch freq first followed by TAC and Fire Ground. I would expect it will be some time later before they add any more TAC ch's since they have started adding 800.

The new tac channels are already being programmed in radios. I haven't seen a license for them yet though.

"Rule of Thumb" would be the idea they will use the V-TAC Freqs that are already approved for Nationwide usage. Most scannist have these programmed in their "FIRE" Bank.

WNRX388 is an old license issued in Aug 2001. It was just renewed. Fire also can use 156.225 for comms w/ GSP Police. GSP Operations are on 158.925 Hope this helps.
