I find 8 fire depts in Spbg Co with repeaters. I see no logic to the fact that they would all use the same 85.4 PL Tone. Seems in the past I've noted other tones being used. The freqs in question are as follows.

153.995 Cly Spgs
154.400 GSP
155.250 Bol Spgs
155.385 N Spbg
155.620 Croft
156.120 Plm/Bvl
158.850 Str Tex
159.145 Chs Com

Any details about these repeaters would be of interest to all. Pending any replys, Larry

All of those repeaters mentioned are private channels. The GSP repeater is no longer working.

Boiling Springs 155.250 85.4 PL
North Spartanburg 155.385 85.4 PL
Cherokee Springs 153.995 85.4 PL
Pelham-Batesville 156.120 85.4 PL
Startex 158.850 85.4 PL

Croft and Chesnee are unknown. Along with Mayo.

The private channels in the database I have confirmed are: Boiling Springs, Cherokee Springs, North Spartanburg, Pelham, Poplar Springs, Reidville, Roebuck, Startex, Una and Westview.

I'll echo these two replies.

All identified tones are 85.4 except for Cooley Springs which I recently confirmed as 233.6.

I've never heard GSP on 154.400 or Croft on 155.6175. I imagine that GSP would have trouble with a repeater on the same frequency as Cherokee County fire dispatch.

Cherokee Springs also operates a repeater, on 153.995/85.4 with an input of 158.835.

Startex rarely uses their repeater, it's a small department with few calls, but I might be out of range to hear their repeater. It's common to hear Westview, Boiling Springs, North Spartanburg and Pehlam and Cherokee Springs.

Many others use simplex channels that have been confirmed and are listed in the database. I confirmed Mayo's channel and tone a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure it was simplex.

None of these channels are used for dispatch - they're all for talk-around. All dispatch is on 154.310.

During the recent tanker truck crash and spill in Arkwright, I heard several fire department chiefs communicating with the Hazmat team on Palmetto 800. I'm not sure if the chiefs all have 800MHz radios now, or if they were issued one just for use during the event from the cache of radios maintained on the mobile command center.

Thanks for all the detail. Not living near SPBG results in not hearing many of these channels. I can hear all of the primary stuff. Best Regards, Larry

I think the State of SC CIO got funding to get a Pal800 portable for each fire department in SC. One of the chiefs in PIckens County sat next to me during a table top exercise and said he had one, but didn't carry it all the time. Just used it for interop.
