Speaker in roof console

I have a 2011 gmc sierra pickup that has a small roof console that has a nice flat area that I was thinking of putting a speaker in for my scanner so the audio would be right overhead. Has anyone come across a speaker that they think would have good audio for this? I was going to cut out the shape of the speaker cone area and get some material to cover the hole from the backside and then hot glue it in place. Can anyone think of a nice flat style speaker that would work? Maybe something from a base scanner I could order the replacement part. Thanks

I know that year ago Odyssey Specialty Vehicles use to do something similar to what you thinking in the Suburbans. Looked and found this link. Odyssey Premier vehicle specific consoles

MFJ makes a fairly small speaker....just about the only thing they manufacture with 100% consistency.

i've done the same with moto speakers for flush mounts, where you cut out the driver section in the panel, attach the front to the front panel, the backs get attached with longer screws thru the material. I tried leaving the backs open, but the was a sound issue I noticed. If you had a huge expansive space behind the material, the audio was tinny and very sharp. If you had an area that was a bigger than the speaker but not by much...it was bassy as hell. The audio took a huge hit. I ended up leaving the speaker backs on the installs.

I haven't had the time to take the panel down yet and have a look behind it but I would think that there isn't too much room between it and the roof. Maybe enough space to use something from good base scanner and take it and hot glue it to the backside of the panel and just put some material over the opening.
