Spectrum Direct (TAFL) down

Looks like someone tripped over the power cord in the server room in Ottawa. TAFL queries have been off the air since at least 0600 ET. Around 1000 ET they put up a notice that Spectrum Direct is down until further notice due to technical problems.

This will be the one time that the Darkwing/Polkaroo searches will best the "real" TAFL.

Still has down message

It was down this afternoon as I was trying to look up 153.230 as heard TRBO on this frequency. Had to look at the other frequency search links. Seems to have same people with licenses as on 153.305 that I have heard TRBO. TAFL still has message that site is still down.

Boxing day and cannot connect again. But not of any urgency.

It looks like they're rebuilding the entire server. If you strip off all but the actual domain name, you get "It works!" which is a standard "blank page" for some web servers when you first install them.

Edit: And now if I type in the URL of, say, a licensee name search (from my browser history), I am getting the site back up as if it was never gone. But, if I try to go to Spectrum Direct, um, directly, I get "You don't have permission to access /special-cgi-bin/jeff.sh on this server." Interesting... (Jeff, get back to work! :lol: )

I find the seach engine at Search Canada's TAFL much more user friendly to work with, personally.

Neither of those are official, and both use limited/truncated data which is not updated as often as Spectrum Direct.

I suppose it all depends on how time critical the license information is required.

Well, I need license number, callsign, lat/long coordinates, Spectrum Signature Codes, license application status, and the actual frequency out to the 5th decimal place. And I am looking for licenses that are being updated daily.
