I am retired and travel the country in a motorhome. I have a SDS100 and a BCD436.
I will be spending May-Sept in and around Yellowstone NP. More likely NW WY, SE ID, SW MT maybe all the way up to Glacier NP.
Started my research in the RR database. There is some data but not nearly what I would expect. I found a ton more in the "public domain". So I am going to have to manually enter them into a new favorite list or lists.
Disappointing they are not in the database already but that is for another day. I already did some research in the Wyoming geo group and they did say why they are not there.
I am not familiar with programming the frequencies in Sentinel. Can anyone point me to a good thread on how to program repeater frequencies into Sentinel?
How do I determine modulation, Audio Option, etc?
TIA

Instructions for manually entering frequencies are in the two "Sentinel" listings on the Easier to Read Manuals page.

SDS100

BCD436HP

What you see in the RadioReference database is based on submissions by members on this site, so it's likely that a number of active channels are not listed. Not sure what you are referring to as the "public domain". If you mean, say FCC licensing, you can download lists of frequencies from RadioReference based on what's licensed. (Some of the downloads are only available to Premium Subscribers.) But quite often, users, especially public safety agencies, may keep licenses valid for frequencies that they haven't used in years. In some cases, where a PD or FD moves to a trunked system, they keep their old conventional channel licenses valid because they still have radios that use them, which might come into play if there was a trunked system failure, or some sort of major disaster where a lot of outside agencies might come in to help.

You can copy listings from a web page into Excel (in some cases, you'd need to use 'paste special'). then copy & paste from an Excel (or Open Office or Google Docs) spreadsheet into Sentinel. Remember that ProScan allows you to copy selected fields from the clipboard into a Favorites list, so you can copy the page to the clipboard, then select which items to use, and where they should go. ProScan works for both the SDS100 & 436Hp, among a number of other scanners.

You might also ask that your thread be moved down to the Wyoming forum, where someone in the area could offer additional suggestions. To do that, do not create a new thread. Instead, click on the Report in the lower left corner of one of your posts, and request that a moderator move your thread to the state forum. Someone in the area would be more likely to see it there.

In some cases, when you program a TG or channel, Modulation, Audio, etc. have the choice of “Auto”. You can choose this and later, when listening to that channel, notice what modulation is actually being used and then change your “Auto” choice to the actual.

Thanks for that info n1chu
Also thanks for the info and the links hiegtx
I didn't even think to look there even though I've been there and reviewed it before.
That lead me to this thread which explains how to use Excel for entering the frequencies via copy/paste. Easy peasy now. Much appreciated! So much easier than reinventing the wheel.
