I will be coming to the San Diego area and I was wondering when someone programs a Splinter system do they need to offset the freq's by 12.5KHz, if they need to monitor the following from 851.000 to 865.9875, or do you just but in the freq's listed in the data base? I have never tried this type of system and this is very interesting. I will be in the area for about a week. Anyhelp from anybody would be appreciated.

You did not say what scanner you are programming, but I believe the answer will be the same regardless. The frequency or frequencies you program are the "control channels". Program the exact/correct frequency.

It sounds like you are programming a MOtorola type trunked system. What happens in that case is the scanner "calculates" the actual Voice Channel from a 'channel number' which is transmitted over the control channel. SO, when the system is a splintered system, the scanner needs to know so that it will do the subtraction as part of its calculations.

In other words, program the control channel frequencies as listed. Set the bank to splintered.

Good luck
