Don't know if any spokanites caught this but SPD has released a statement
on their websight reguarding the frequencies they use.

http://www.spokanepolice.org/leftnav/frequency/default.aspx

I hope the SPD is not going to try to confiscate peoples radio equipment if they
find frequencies other than the ones listed programmed in.

They seem to have chosen to omit ch 4 car to car which they use many times per day.

Scanner Frequencies

Main Spokane Police Channels

Channel 1 (North Patrol) - 159.090 (repeater)

Channel 2 (Data) - 159.150

Channel 3 (South Patrol) - 159.210 (repeater)

The above frequencies have been in effect since 1989. There are no immediate plans for change, however long range plans call for a total overhaul of the current system.

If you are using other frequencies for Spokane Police radio traffic, they are likely the input channels for the above repeaters. They will give you only half the conversation and not advisable for use.

This same statement has been there for some time, I first noticed it not long after Kirkpatrick was hired as COP. I don't think there is anything onerous here - she is just trying to be community based I believe. Mike

I hope your right, its just the last 3 words that get me.."not advisable for use."

In context, I am taking not advisable for use to mean 'if you want to listen to repeater inputs you are only going to hear half the conversation so we would not advise you to do so'.....

I see your point but the author used the words "other frequencies" which seems like
a open ended statement then continued on "they are likely the input channels" ok so
what about those other frequencies that are NOT LIKELY the inputs to channel 1 and 3.
Why not put a note on channel two which is a simplex, here in Deer Park I
only get the dispatcher side of the conversation on channel two unless the officer is
on the 110 watt vehicle radio even then its kinda iffy.
Maybe the author of that SPD page is not a radio person but then again how would they
know what the difference was between an output and the input?
