It seems to me that the dipstick in this situation was the cop. Why would he pursue a four wheel drive pick-up into an off-road, wooded environment? Did he actually think his Crown Vic could out perform that high-clearance truck?
By the way...I have to inquire as to why would you wish the death penalty on an unconvicted suspect, wanted only for possible involvement in a non-violent crime?
Looked to me like the cop did a pretty good job of keeping up with him until he misjudged that tree stump and then almost had him still! And I don't know how you could say "possible involvement". When you watch someone on camera do what he did, you can easily draw the conclusion he was fully involved! I'm a believer in 'you don't run from the cops'! and if you do, then you get what you deserve!
I didn't say I wanted him hung or put in an electric chair.... that would be the "death penalty"; just get what should have been coming to him for being stupid! Your right, it is a non violent crime but I'm one who roots for the victim. The poor owner of that truck probably worked really hard to buy that vehicle only to have some jack ass take it from him and deprive him of his property.
If that guy was raised in Spokane, then he would know that very few people jump into the Spokane River and survive in that area. And I doubt he is an Olympic swimmer! I have seen and heard of many a person who ran from law enforcement, jumped into the river and thought they were going to swim their way across to freedom only to get caught in one of the many under tows in that river and drown or get out there in the river and then put some one else in danger saving their ass because they just realized they couldn't swim as good as they thought and start screaming for help. I don't have the time of day for people like that...they are a waste of air and space and the world would be better off without them!
