Gosh, call me crazy, but here in San Antonio I haven't caught a peep on otherwise normally busy Spor-E freqs (33.9, etc).

Has this still been active?

I've had a scanner parked on 33.9 for most of the day, and usually I'll get Hamilton County OH at least a few times.

I've got a great discone mounted in the attic, so I know it's not an antenna problem... anyone hearing good skip today?

Furthermore, I've been watching the threads for the past 2 weeks and everytime I see posts related to Spor-E I've been in the same situation. Maybe the skip isn't making it down here to South Texas... dunno...

Try tuning 29.620 FM and see if you can hear any of the repeaters. Right now I am hearing stations mixing with each other on that freq...keeps fading in and out.

Other than that, it's been quiet on my end as well.

It's nutz here Lindsay. I just caugh a whole simplex conversation between two fish and game guys in California and I'm basically in Kansas City. They were a full meter on the 780 on 44.800 Mhz.

It's been a great weekend for monitoring/DX-ing. I live in northern NJ and made numerous ham contacts on the 70cm band in Florida, North Carolina, and New Mexico. I was using both my 50W mobile rig and my 5W handheld working a local repeater on 443.850 MHz, about 20-25 miles away. The received and transmitted signals were outstanding! Who says only General and Extra-class licensees can work DX!

When I got to work at the part-time dispatch job both Saturday and Sunday nights we were receiving skip from departments from down south on our primary police channel, 37.300 MHz. The audio on these signals was also outstanding. Since I was off from the full-time dispatch job I didn't think to call and check to see if they were getting any skip as well. I doubt it since the full-time job operates on UHF and in all the years I've worked here we've never experienced skip that I've been aware of.

Those of you in states other than IL, would you mind recording some of the Illinois State police lowband stuff. After this year, it will all be history.
