Hi!

We have a VERY ACTIVE Skywarn group here in the Ark-La-Tex with repeaters 'linked' from Tyler, Texas across Louisiana and into Jackson, MS, if necessary. We also have repeaters that we can access either directly or through other spotters from Fort Smith, AR south through Leesville (Fort Polk), LA and southeast to Ferriday, LA. We also have coverage to the southwest down through Lufkin and Palestine, TX. The repeater mainly used is on the ARCOS wide-area repeater, N5-JH, and is at the 1,150' level of KSLA, TV-12's antenna.

The Skywarn call at the NOAA Wx office is K5-SHV.

We just completed another Skywarn class, Tuesday night and I got my "Advanced" Spotter's certificate. I've been doing Skywarn since late 1981.
Living in Shreveport, LA. I've seen some real "doozies" of wx, LOL!

Can anyone tell me how I can get certified to be a storm chaser? I live in Georgia and wouldnt mind being one.

First chase 1993.
Skywarn training attendee every year since 1988.

Advice to folks who want to go out chasing (Newbies): find an experienced chaser to buddy up with. How? Attend Skywarn, find the chaser meetings (Tessa etc...)

The thing I enjoy about chasing is: My primary goal is to see storm structure and lightning (Photo time!) Even if its a down day, go out and take landscape/americana photo's!
It's not just about tornado's!
It's a chance to get away from the day to day doldrums.

I have been a Spotter since 1989 and certified since the late 90's. I am a ham operator and GMRS radio operator.
I am involved with the Harvey County RACES group in Newton Kansas.
I spot in the Harvey,sedgwick counties for the most part but have spotted in th Kansas city area also.

Yes, but some say we're certifiable for what we do.. I personally have lost 2 vehicles to lightning strikes while spotting... And was punching cores (bwahahaha) before all the movie magic made it an X-sport...
