I am enjoying this new scanner pro-97. I am now listening to just one ID group at a time till I find where spring hill, ks Police transmit on. The group is 144 sheriff south group. They are in and out of my area but still I have not been able to hear the locals? Could they be using their own frequency and not part of a group? Any ideals? thanks

It's a possibility. Go check out the Database, and program in all the frequencies for your area.

You could also put the Pro-97 in OPEN mode, which would allow any and all trunk ID's it comes across to be heard. Problem witht hat is you're going to be hearing a bunch of useless stuff that might be on the system as well. Such as trash trucks, or animal control.

Like I said, go check out the database here for your county in Kansas, and it will show you all the frequencies and talkgroups that are in use there, so you can program them into your scanner. I find the database to be an indespensable tool when programming. I'm sure you will as well.

Just a bit of advice, you might get a bit more response if you posted something like this is the Kansas forum. Locals can give you a bit more advice and input on a specific location.

Again, they are on tg 144 on the JoCo 800 TRS. Radio numbers in the 1700's. They are mixed in with other depts so you will have to listen for them. They have much less radio traffic than the other users on the talkgroup.

1730 just went out @ city hall a couple minutes ago on tg 144.

Same problem 2 yrs later

OK so i go to spring hill high and i do a lot of work with the police department. i have had my uniden bearcat scanner for a while now and i have programmed just about every police frequency in MiCo and JoCo.. except for spring hills. i have done ride alongs with them and i kno that they have two separate radios in the car, 1 Mi and 1 Jo but are able to switch them to just City mode. The question im trying to ask is does anybody have spring hill ks police freq. thanks

I don't see a listing for a dedicated springhill freq. They do have a PD talkgroup (id 3856), that is probably what they are using as a "city" freq. ID 144 is a general Sheriff talk group. Most agencies on the JoCo system tend to stay on the general group for the area, switching to their dedicated group for "private" conversations, They may even be scanning both ID's if more than one unit is on duty.....

You may also want to listen on the Simulcast 800 freq (listed in the conventional systems). It seems to rebroadcast the all south zone's traffic.

Enjoy
