Check the CO DTRS database. There is a map of the CSP districts. Next, look at the talkgroup list and see which talkgroup that particular district is on. It is important to note that sometimes there can be more than one district on a talkgroup. I often hear ^A and 6B on the 6A channel. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I would start with Cheyenne Mtn to begin with but remember only CSP is on DTRS down your way all El Paso and Colo Springs comms are on there 3600 baud Moneyrola trunked system which you will need to program seperatly.

Are we referring to Colorado Springs programming or DTRS programming?

First off for DTRS in your area you only have 2 or 3 control channels at the most and while it's not necessary, I would recommend those in different banks if you can.

Are you using the Pro-96 (excellent radio btw, I have three), if so I would highly recommend win96 for all your programming needs.

Thanks Jim. I could not tell you how I need to program I have a bearcat 250D. Trying to get any info from the radio people around here is like trying to get a date with the Swedish Bikini Team. LOL Everthing I have learned so far has been self taught. Kinda hard to learn that way. I had it programed but I had to put in all the freq. I had for the entire springs area. Finally was told abpout this web site by Uniden Tech support and am leaarning quickly, but sure there is alot more to learn. Thanks again Mark

Still confused if you are trying to program the El Paso County and Colorado Springs 3600 baud system or the States DTRS system? They are different and require different instructions.

We also have a few dispatchers in the Springs who are very familiar with the trunked systems programming and I'm sure would be able to help you directly. Bob's Colorado Springs feeds are also available on-line if you want to monitor them.

I would avoid the so called radio stores, they are a last resort and frequently ill informed in my experience.

When I first got a Pro-96 mail order in September 2003 I took it down to a local Radio Shack store and inquired if they knew anything about when the Pro-96 would be available and he said not for a few months and that it was "useless anyways because none of the Colorado digital system was monitorable" so I took my programmed Pro-96 out of the bag and it started talking, I think he almost fainted and would not let me leave the store he was calling others to come see etc etc.

Good luck.

Ok, Here is a couple of problems.

1. I think you are wanting people to tell you exactly what buttons to press and when. We can't really help you there everybody uses different scanners and radio's and they all have different sequencies, and plus wouldn't you rather learn how to do it so you could do it again when you want to change systems and such, or would you like people to just tell you. I've always been a fan of learning with direction. We will direct, as long as you are willing to learn.

2. We need to know what you are interested in listening to. State DTRS (CSP, etc...) is on a 9600baud APCO25 system and is totally seperate from the Colorado Springs, ElPaso County 3600baud system (CSPD, CSFD,etc...). I have extensive knowledge of the Colorado Springs system but not a whole lot on the state system, but there are people here that have extensive knowledge on the State system, so knowing who needs to step in is kind of priority.

3. If I offended you by writing this, I'm sorry we need more info as to what you want to listen to and how you want us to help you. There are many people willing to help in Colorado not everyone of us is like the ScanColo guys.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks Jim and Kevin I am not offended and rest assure I want to learn this pretty bad I don't want anyone doing things for me. I just need to know the direction to go because there is very little info for programing. I am most interested in the C/S El Paso system with the hope that I can get CSP also. I know there is a way to use control channels at the different sites or if I just need one main control channel. Like I said befor work north live south. Being a member of the FD I know the system does not work the greatest even with the $3500.00 radios. Any help in which direction to go would be helpful. Thanks again guys Mark

If you are using the BC250d, you must have the digital card to monitor both the colorado springs and state system. Secondly, if you have the 250d, you will not be able to track talkgroups on the state system because it uses a 9600 baud control channel. You will need the uniden bc 296, uniden bc796, or the Radio Shack Pro-96 to track talkgroups on the state system. Your BC-250d should monitor the Colorado Springs system just fine. You can still monitor the state system as long as you program in all of the frequencies for the system as conventional. You will be able to hear the audio, but will find it difficult to follow talkgroups because the frequency is always changing.

Le me know if you have any questions and good luck,
Steve

Any Win96 files for Colorado Springs/El Paso?

I just purchased a Pro-96 scanner and was looking for any pre-programmed Win96 frequency files for Colorado State, Colorado Springs, El Paso, Denver, and the general front range.

Thanks!
