Fatal Car Accident in Springs Overnight

COLORADO SPRINGS - The intersection of Hancock Expressway under the Circle Bridge reopened just after 6:00 this morning, after a fatal head-on colision just after 1:00 AM.
Sgt. Stephen Noblitt told Newschannel 13 it's believed a sedan driven by a man in his forties crossed the center line on Hancock and crashed into a Jeep going in the opposite direction. Sgt. Noblitt says the man was dead when they got to the accident site.
Newschannel 13 was told the driver of the Jeep is a woman in her forties who was taken to an area hospital with "non-life threatening injuries." No names have been released in the accident.
Sgt. Noblitt said they had no information on whether drugs or alcohol were involved. But since the weather was rainy and possibly the roads were slick. he said, "..the roads are a little slightly damp...we're not sure if weather was a contributing factor or not, we're not sure."
The accident happened just after 1:00 AM. The intersection was closed for several hours while the Major Accidents Unit of the Springs Police investigated.
