Squelch at maximum using HDSDR

Hello,
I am relatively new to SDR. I got an old "no-brand" receiver and I use it mostly for air band - using the HDSDR software.
It works perfect. I use a "Double Bazooka" antenna on the roof. Receiving very well an Airport which is more than 100 miles from my location.
One problem it's the squelch on the left side of the following picture:
HDSDR.jpg

I am on almost maximal red (I use the squelch), and it doesn't look to me normal, I believe that it should be on green...
It's there anything that I can do - without "killing the fine reception?
Thanx in advance!

I don't use that, but do use SDR# and SDR++ Weaker signals will land on one end and strong will land on the other. Looks as if you are actually receiving a plane over head and not the actual airport.

Hello dave3825,
Thank you for the assistance!
I do hear the actual airport (control + a few aircrafts)! The aircrafts have less transmitting power - and I can hear them sometimes... well 1 from 5. I am monitoring them via flightradar24.
I tried to install another software from spyxxx website, but had no success... I downloaded from their site, unzipped, but I couldn't install.
The question is: may I have on the same PC several SDR programs without interfering or ruining any of them? I am not intending to use them together of course, but the drivers won't do any problem?
BTW, I couldn't find any link to SDR#.

You can have as many programs as you like as long as they are not all running at the same time. Dongle will only connect to one at a time

Sdr#

Sdr++

Hello dave3825,
Thank you very much again! I'll try to d/l it again from Airpspy.
As far as I could understand from youtube, (
) at about 5:30, this looks as a small zip file, about 1.7M. I downloaded the file (5M), but the inside files were completely different from the ones I see on youtube. I tried to install, as admin, but they remined stuck in a point (after installing the driver). I am using a Lenovo PC (64G ram +Win10). I couldn't use the software...
Thank you Mike,
The zip file it's the same, as it is d/led from the same place.
Actually, the software I use works perfect for Air Band. Certainly I use AM for both airports I monitor. One is located 100++miles from my location, the second about 85 - 90 miles. A lot of traffic...
I am using 2 antennas for testing, the double Bazooka and a "flower pot" - I don't get any problem with them, both of them work perfect. My roof is at about 15m from ground.
I also use an AOR AR2002. I hear even a few radio amateurs at 145MHz and 147MHz band, very clear.

I know this issue with HDSDR. The S-Meter is not calibrated. It needs to be calibrated to 9 S-units. For each different sdr it needs to be calibrated. Use a signal generator set to -75 dbm signal level at the middle of the band of interest.

Thank you sunwave,
Unfortunately, I packed my entire electronic lab, and now I don't have any available signal generator...
