Squelch Code programming with AAR band

In my Radio Shack Pro-106 (20-106) model scanner, I have an option to program the squelch code in, I dont bother setting this, can I just select "None" instead or is there a specific mode that'd be better? (modes being : None, CTCSS, DCS, P25 (I know this isn't applicable at this time), using the BNSF, UP, CP channels in Superior/Duluth.

I sure wish railroads *would* use tones, with different tones for each line segment.
