Squelch?

I was wondering if somebody could help me find the best place to adjust my squelch to on my radio shack pro 197

Turn the squelch fully counterclockwise. While scanning conventional frequencies without PL or DCS tones, slowly turn up the squelch until the noise just disappears. That will be the point of maximum sensitivity.

The answer will vary depending on strength of signal(s) you're bringing in, there's no "one size fits all", not all RF environments are created equal. With that said, when I owned one I generally kept it about here:
