Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, Just recieved a SRX2200 UHF1 off ebay and for whatever reason the volume doesnt change when the knob it turned up. It turns on fine and the volume is coming out of the speaker, it just doesnt have any effect when you rotate it louder. Is there something in the programming that can inhibit function? There are a few funky things with it so Im wondering if someone messed it up when they recased it. Its now in a black/red case. Any help is appreciated.

You might want to check the programming in the Profiles, it could be the min/max volume setting was set to the same value, or the max was set relatively low. Defaults are Max 255 Min 0. Enable Expert mode in CPS to see all the goodies.

I checked the values in the software, all look normal. I'm going to send it back for a refund. Thank you for the reply.

Put the radio in service mode......

Turn radio on, wait for boot. Within 5 seconds of boot push 2 dimple button on side (bottom side button), 5 times in rapid succession.

The radio will display service, then push the purple button (top side button). until you see CH Test in the display. Push the top orange button (emergency top button) to enter the CH test mode.
Rotate Volume control, should display 2/xxx. (xxx=0~255) depending on position of volume control. 0 will be minimum volume, 255 will be max.

This test is true and will test volume control regardless of CPS programming.

If you do not get 0~255,the control is likely bad, and is not the CPS min/max volume settings. If you do get 0~255 issue is likely in CPS.
