SS freq. dead air transmission

Yesterday, for at least half the day (before I got annoyed and shut off that bank) one of the Secret Service frequencies was transmitting continuous dead air. It was as if someone had wedged a key down in an empty room and left, and it was like that for HOURS!

Does anyone happen to know what might have caused it??

I noticed the same thing happened during the week before UN summit. IIRC 5 USSS frequencies and several DSS frequencies are continuously keyed down for quite a few days. Than it went back to normal just before the summit started. I guess it's some kind of "burn test" to make sure everything is working the way they should before the POTUS comes.

Wow - that means we might be getting some sort of impromptue visit from SOMEONE....

Yep, but if you hear the whole fed band becomes alive in the next week or two, than you know someone is in town!

Or a tone remote went TU and locked the transmitter.

There could have been 20 different issues at hand.

Just had 2 more transmissions - what sounded like a cross between static hiss and a stutering noise (brings to mind a helicopter sound effect, almost)


It was on Frequency 165.37500, and each lasted about a minute

You never know it could be that the Secret Service is forwarding a location and getting ready for some type of VIP arrival in the coming days. I believe they usually arrive about a week before to get things ready.
