SSD and SPD Air Units

The other day, I was in the Arden area and saw two helicopters coming from the downtown area. As they got closer, I noticed it was SSD STAR and SPD Air units flying together very closely. Every turn one made, the other made. They flew together for a while. Does anyone know why?

Haven't heard anything, but both air units do A LOT of flying and training without ever being on the radio.

It could have been a photo shoot, flight training, or tactical training- often these communications are done on aviation channels. Keep in mind that both air units work very closely with the SWAT, SED, K9 teams - so not all "training" is flight related.

Would have been a good pic to catch though.

Chopper Com freq

Much of the time Sacramento area local law inforcement helo's use 132.125 for "air to air" .
The comms can consist of anything from position reports to chit-chat, so monitoring this frequency can sometimes give ya an idea of what they're doin, where, and why. Can get very interesting.
