Are SSP lifeguards on a UHF repeater now? On the beach next to a stand, lots of radio chatter, portables have a stubby antenna.

They are still on analog VHF simplex. That may be for the new lightning detection and warning system.

I beg to differ but it's definitely a UHF repeater, hearing both sides of conversations with transmission tones. And the HH radio has a UHF antenna.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm up there every day walking and I listen to them on a scanner in my truck. I get the badge checkers that are close but not ones far and when I get home on the other side of the bay, I get nothing. It must be for the life guards.
I don't get anything on the VHF repeater that is listed either.

Is the channel you are hearing them on in the DB? Today would be the last day of any action since they are done for the season after today.
