I did find an old page on the Universal website on the VC-H1 that's being shipped up with the upcoming flight...

According to the AMSAT/ARISS home page, the SSTV freq should be 144.49. Those that remember the last days of MIR remember they too had SSTV, so anyone that has that gear lying around might have a leg up.

Would there be any interest in a SSTV article in the wiki? I could probably assemble something fairly quick, but it won't likely go into much detail. We'll need some folks to add tips for SSTV on 2 meters - anything from transceiver hookups to slant correction tips, ect. will be what we're looking for. Certainly software is fair game - the last I heard, and this could be off base, is that Robot36 is the SSTV mode that is likely to be used.

Try to be as detailed as possible. There isn't any current interest I know of here in Central Maryland for SSTV on 2m, although I understand in some parts of the Midwest, this is being fooled around with.

They were transmitting SSTV last night on one of the northbound orbits on 145.800. The signal was nice a strong and it remained strong right till it went over the horizon. Been a while since I heard that sound.

Since WF1F doesn't seem to want emails, I've added links to SSTV compatible software to the wiki. If there's something that was missed, please go ahead and add it.

Last I heard - and this is nowhere near official - SSTV ops are expected Oct 12-22, so you do have some time. And as noted previously, there have been some sporadic tests on 145.8....

If you get good quality pix, please upload them to the ARISS SSTV blog. I understand they're being used for analysis purposes - likely as not to see if SSTV ops are viable from other future missions.

Received 10-19-08 1948 UTC using an Icom 706MKIIG/Ringo Ranger Dual band at 30'/Ham Radio Deluxe-DM780 for Radio Control/Tracking and SSTV RX.

Now, I usually just cheap out and consult heavens-above.com for visible passes, instead of consulting my space-track.org account for new kep elements. According to heavens-above.com, there were no visible passes this morning. Was heavens-above.com mistaken...?

If their definition of a "visible pass" is one that happens during the night time and the station/object is lit by sunlight, hence being visible to the naked eye, they were probably correct . . . this mornings pass was during the day and not visible. But you could hear the activity, and the voice contacts on the passes that happened a couple times later in the day.
