I'll be staying in St. Augustine for a few days soon and am
wondering if their PD and Fire are still on VHF and UHF or
have they changed to a trunked system and if so which one?

Thanks for any help....Pete....N3RNX..

WARNING: check state law

Hope you enjoy your stay in Florida. But it's very important to know that the state has a strict scanner law. Some scanner users who don't know about the law or who are careless or foolish have been arrested, and their radio equipment has been confiscated.

To avoid any of these bad outcomes and the expenses and headaches that come with them, please CAREFULLY study the FL statute on radios capable of receiving police radio communications. The statute does provide exemptions for amateur radio license holders, legitimate news organizations, etc.

Here is the link:
Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes :->2009->Ch0843->Section 16 : Online Sunshine

You can also find this by going to the state's website: MyFlorida.com - Home
Click on "government"
Select legislature
click on Florida Statutes
click on Title XLVI Crimes
click on Chapter 843, Obstructing Justice
then click on Chapter 843.16, Unlawful to install or transport radio equipment using assigned frequency of state or law enforcement officers; definitions; exceptions; penalties.
