Per the St. Clair County Commission, the county has purchased a P25 system that will go live December 2023. The legacy system will continue to operate for 3 years until December 2025 OR until parts needed to maintain the system are no longer available. All departments have been notified to prepare for purchasing of equipment, apply for grants etc.

I don't know anything official about that quite yet but I would not be surprised if LE was entirely encrypted based off the grant applications I've read.

This was a letter sent out to all county public safety departments by SCCC Chairman that I read at work yesterday. I don't have a page or link to send.

We have a site visit planned for control station installation (base stations) and last minute inspection for installation of the apparatus next week. The system is still not complete, but new radios are being installed. St. Clair Co will continue use of the VHF DMR system for the time being.

Not bad for the northern part of the county. What about the south? Moody and Pell city area?

The Baldrock (Odenville) 700 Site may be used to cover some of the the South West parts of SCC?
Its not too far away from Moody or Pell City.

Some of the SCC Microwave Sites are connected to that Site.
I am not sure about the coverage in other parts of SCC.

Good news is the Fire Dept TG's will not be encrypted like they currently are on their DMR system. I am hoping someone will stream SCC FD's as I no longer live in AL.
