St. Clair County Questions

I was in St. Clair County this weekend and I have a few questions... one, HOW DO YOU STAND THAT RADIO SYSTEM?! I think it's prolly the worst one I have heard in five years... second, is St. Clair County moving to MPCSS and if so, when are they do to move? On Sheriff Dispatch who is 460-10? Does 30 mean In Service?, cuz I hear that the most. What is an OCA number? Seems like a lot of questions but I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I do know that the current radio system has some very serious coverage problems, and a lot of static to go along with it. That being said, the county is presently making plans to join the MPSCS, but that might not happen until 2007, which is mostly because of funding issues. However, the MPSCS will be a MAJOR improvement over their 460 MHz system, mostly because they will add several additional towers across the county to boost radio reception.

Yeah, it's bad, it's weird... they don't go through the repeater with thier disp. radio... its 25 watts direct. I'm thinking thats cuz the systems sucks? but 25 watts doesn't go far... but it's 500 feet up, does that make up for it?

I agree !! I live in NE Macomb Co & my parents live in St Clair Co so I monitor them alot. No doubt they have problems....hopefully they'll be able to upgrade to MPSCS ASAP. An OCA is the incident number (report number) of the dept. Not sure what 460-10 is, but a 46x unit would be a Yale Unit. I've included the breakdown for St Clair Co units...

1xx - Sheriff Detectives
2xx - Sheriff Road Patrol
25x - Sheriff Traffic Units
32x - St Clair Police
33x - St Clair Police
36x - Marine City Police
37x - Marine City Police
38x - Algonac Police

I've heard them use 10-8 for 'in-service' so not sure what '30' is used for.

Back when they use to be on 39.100 MHz., "Code 30" meant: ready for next assignment." I wonder if it means the same thing today, or something close to it?
