Is motorola 800 type II standard correct setting on a 996 for St.joe county?.I seem to have better quality on my 396 whith same setting.have not played with any of the settings.
I also have strange signal strength issues on each with only 1 or 2 bars and then 3 or 4 by just unplugging and re plugging antenna. This only applies to St.Joe as all other systems are strong always.just getting into this so not an expert by any means.

Motorola 800 Type II is correct setting for the Hoosier SAFE-T portion that serves St Joe County.

This particular part of the system is a 5-site simulcast portion with transmitters in Grainger, Lakeville, New Carlisle, North Liberty, South Bend.

You are probably getting interference because the scanner is trying to receive transmissions on the same frequency from 5 different sites, but since the signals arrive at different times to your location, there can be degredation in the strongest received signal.

I would suggest using the attenuator for this system.

Perhaps some of the other members in the South Bend area can provide some additional insight.
