Is there anyone that knows about scanning for this town. I bought a new bearcat 396 about 2 weeks ago. Going through the program from bearcat on the pc I've put the frequencies in 20 different ways. Tonight I just added the numbers into the scanner itself 11 of them I hearing a lot of talk now. Do I need to put in group numbers or am I getting all the talking with just the frequency numbers.
I know you will have a good laugh but I am lost with this thing.
Thank you

I don't personally have a 396 so i can't help you based on the particular model but i can add this. There are 2 options on my 246 when i am entering a trunking system. I can either select ID Scan, or ID Search. If you select the "ID Scan" box it will only search for the talk groups you have entered. If you select ID Search it will look for the different talk groups. I would advise putting in all the talk groups from the rr database and selecting ID Scan but that is probably more just my personal preference. Either way should work but definetely make sure you add the 8 800mhz frequenices listed on the database.

Just reread your post and i at first i thought you were curious about trunking systems but maybe i'm mistaken. So in the event you aren't concerned with the Motorola system in St. Jo then just go to the database and enter in the frequencies listed for each department you want. If all you want is St. Joseph police dispatch just enter 460.15000 into your scanner, and if you want to get technical enter the 179.9 PL tone.

Hope that helps, i'm not sure if i understood your question correctly though...:/

The DB for the St Joe, P25 TRS looks pretty bare, lol..

Not sure how you 'put them in', the correct way to do it is.

create a new system
Type 'Motorola P25'
click on Trunk Option

put in
866.08750, 866.55000, 866.95000, 867.35000
867.53750, 867.75000, 867.95000, 868.38750,
868.57500, 868.82500
hit Ok
make sure it's on ID Search
upload to Scanner and it should find some activity..

You'll have to start listening and IDing the TGs thats when you can start putting them in there.
Also curious how you came up with 11 freqs.?
