St. Tammany Parish SO??????

On this site St. Tammany Parish SO is listed as an EDACS Standard system. I programmed it in my 796D but received nothing while in St. Tammany Parish.

I came back and read posting again. Am I correct that it is "Provoice" system?

I live in Slidell. I am receiving troop L, St Tammany and troop B, New Orleans as Motorola, not EDACS. Some lists have the STSO listed as EDACS Provoice, but I believe that is wrong.

The city of Slidell is Motorola, type I.

Welcome to the site.

On my many trips home (LaPlace, LA) I have never tried to listen to St Tammany, but I can assure you that NO Public Safety is an EDACS system. It is mixed ProVoice and analog with the ProVoice portion being all the NOPD traffic. EMS & FD are analog. You might be listening to the Orleans Parish system, which is Moto.

Lou- I think the Moto System he was refering to in N.O. was LSP Troop B.
But im still pretty sure St Tam is Provoice also....

well st tammeny is provoice and analog and well for new orleans all you can pick up is fire and ems ,and trafficgot to agree with lou on this one and slidell is type 1 system,and pink fish if ya do not think nopd is not pro voice i hope you got a scanner that no has that picks it up .I hope you have one that does and let every one in on which one you have....heee

St Tam is EDACS Provoice Mixed mode,... as is NOLA's... Slidell is like one of the very rare Type I's still in existance....State of LA, is Moto II Analog, switching to a mixed, then fully digital 700/800 system.....

what exactly does "EDACS standard" mean? Does it mean "narrow"? "Wide?" "Provoice?" Digital?

EDACS Standard refers usually to a wideband EDACS multi frequency TRS. EDACS comes in Wide, Narrow, SCAT, Networked versions. Any of these may be set up as a Provoice, AEGIS, or simple analog formats.

Trunk Tracker II's can usually do the wide's with no problems... Some of the II's can do narrow's (Most notably the Unidens), same with SCAT's. TT's can do networked by programming in the cells your monitoring in seperate banks. If there was a way to do EDACS with CC only, it'd make a networked EDACS even simpler, like the way you do for large networked Moto's.

TT III's are even better suited for all the EDACS flavors, as are the TT IV's.
