The only thing that you will be able to hear is Dispatch which is patched over to 154.130 for paging purposes.
EVERYTHING else is encrypted.

why on earth do they need to encrypt a fire department transmission its getting unbelievable out there

I agree it doesnt make any sense to encrypt the FD, police I can understand becuase they dont want criminals listening into their communications. What harm is done if the FD is not encrypted. At least they have the patch so that the volunteers can here. Having the FD and PD encrypted must make it a nightmare for mutual aid. What happens if a department has to go to stamford for mutual aid. I bet they dont have Stamford Trunked Radios in all the trucks in the surrounding towns. Sounds like the City of Stamford is paranoid about something. Maybe they had a bad experience with someone listening in, who knows, hopefully they make the fd channels clear so that the public and news agencies can listen in.

From what I read on another site, there are some issues between the career FD in Downtown and the volunteer Companys in the outlying areas. Baisically, the volunteers are supposedly having problems getting manpower out. Too much to state here, read about it at http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=24310&hl=stamford. They may be doing this to keep the vol's from knowing what is going on.

all I know is I hate encryption its ruining a fun hobby first bristol went then wolcott....I hope there arent anymore in my area at least
Is the old Stamford EDACS TRS still online, or has everything switchover to the new Project 25 TRS?
